Hey Bing,
Thank for explaining your nickname - it's lovely. I'm sorry to hear your Dad has passed away.
I never thought of going to Egypt to go swimming and snorkelling - wow! I only ever think of the pyramids. It must be great sometimes to be so near to other countries. We can never go into another country without going "over-seas", so Australians freak out over land borders that take them into new countries. I presume you flew to Egypt, seeing you don't like high seas.
I really don't think I want to find Mr Perfect. But it's not my style to take someone who's committed to someone else, so married is too married, and gay is too gay because he's not going to be interested in me, and too old is basically anyone over 60 (I'm 37) and too young is anyone under 18. Is that too picky????? I've just never found anyone I wanted who wanted me back. Shakespeare would have loved me. I would hate to marry for the sake of marrying. I know women who have done that and they're miserable. How could you live with yourself?
I'm glad Martin likes to shop - he's restored my faith. You don't like to shop. Well, c'est la vie (or "sailor's feet" - as my uncle would say).
Do you know what really impressed me when I was in the US - how men ate icecreams in public. At the time I couldn't recall seeing an Australian man eat an ice cream in public. I thought it was one of the bravest things I'd ever seen. Oz boys have improved somewhat over the years - you do see it these days. They also go to cafes and drink coffee. Progress! When I was a kid men drank beer - or slivavitz - and women and children weren't allowed in public bars. The women were allowed into a ladies-only bar. Children were banned from all pubs. A lot of pubs are more family oriented these days. And because of drink driving laws men can now refuse to drink and still save face. It was impossible before the laws came in. I'm grateful our culture is slowly changing. Still it's not surprising we live in such an alcohol driven culture - rum was once the currency of the Colony - literally.
History lesson over.
