Today is suitably wet for the funeral of our gr8 mate and Frampton Weller/Crush bass player Pete 'Lambsy' Groves.
We all felt a bit sad this weekend cos we had hoped to see Pete at our party, but the reaper decided to take him earlier than his prognosis.
Well, life goes on and we had a terrific weekend which started last Thursday with Dudley's trip down specifically to worship at the Mecca of the Bovey Tracey acoustic jam.
As it turned out it was as well the bearded one did show, cos it was an appalling cacophony otherwise.
The saving grace was Weller and Dudley and Rockin' John's versions of a coupla well known country songs - minus the tuneless, toothless bird would have been nice 'though.
Mr Dudderly also accompanied the sweet voiced Pippa Todd on a Mary Black tune to great effect. Come back Bilbo all is forgiven
Friday at the Bolton in Brixham, not South London, was a success despite the drummer's exhaustion after another mad dash cross country.
A late start and finish meant not a lot of rest for the wicked before the big Glastonbury style bash on Saturday to celebrate Bing's birthday and just have a good old knees up in a lovely little rural spot.
We asked our angels for clement weather and we got it.
Crush feat. a great set from Sara Corser did the biz and the rain stayed off long enough for everyone to enjoy a great night.
Ram roast, BBQs, chocolate cake and rock and roll.
Thanks to Jeff and Julie for being such great sports, lending us the venue and for all their efforts in making everyone feel so welcome.
That is until and drunk and stoned Jimmy nearly fell in the fire and we were ordered to 'Get off my land' and rightly so.
A special mention to the happy campers who braved the elements
Yesterday was clear up day and a chance to get to the pub to watch Chelsea play Liverpool in the afternoon.
Rick and Dave headed home early, but with the warm glow of appreciation in their hearts after two of the best shows we have played since the last one
So good luck to all who make it to the shindig in Market Rasen this afternoon. I hope you remember Pete fondly as we do.
How was your weekend?
