I'm more in agreement with you and Liah than is evident by reading my post. That ruling the world thing really launched my claws.
Just a couple things tho -
Despots: Well, our despot loudly resolved to go after all governments who shield terrorists, promote terrorism, fund it or whatever... He's on the hook to keep his word, and he has to start somewhere. An overly ambitious goal to be sure. It's also a good excuse to oust the guy who tried to kill Daddy.
Of course the administration brings its own political,economic and personal agenda along for the ride - all conflicts and wars arise from a complicated series of events, don't they?
Nukes: It's widely believed that Saddam hasn't been able to obtain the weapons grade plutonium needed to finish building his nukes. I agree, he would have used them by now - but only if he had them. Maybe he should give North Korea a call.
Facts: We have a right to be kept informed, but not to the level you're talking. Remember, whatever we as ordinary citizens know, the rest of the world knows too, which includes our enemies. How can you maintain defense or a military edge by blabbing sensitive information to the bad guys? Lose that edge and you lose everything.
Oh what a world, what a world.
