I met him once at "Upstairs at Ronnie's" club in Frith Street, Soho in 1979 at a Merton Parkas gig. He was miserable.
I saw the Jam live once at the "Golden Lion" at Fulham Broadway in about 1978. I thought they were quite good but looked rather like school boys in their shirts, ties and jackets. Looking back I suppose they were trying to look like Moddy Boys.
