Hi

I have original demo material waiting for someone to sing. I can't sing for toffee so need
to find a vocalist to work with.

Words are more my forte.
I'm not a musician but have used an electronic keyboard to create backing melodies to
a few of my songs. Then I have built up these tracks onto a recording studio program
on my pc, which has enabled me to create a demo cd.

Because I'm not a musician, I am very flexible with these tunes and I'm realistic enough
to accept that they may not even be used in the final version of the songs.
However, some of them have appealed to some who have listened to them, and I believe
they are no "worse" than a lot of the current top 40 which masquerades as music.

The general feedback I've had from people has been positive.
I recently sent a demo of two songs to a dj at BBC WM and he telephoned me to say
he agreed my voice was no good, but not to give up on the tracks as there was
"definitely mileage in both songs". So, I find this encouraging.

Over the last couple of years I've been let down by various people who have agreed to
sing some of my songs, but when it comes down to actually fixing times to meet up,
they disappear into the night. Some of them insist that they want to work on
collaborations and keep me hanging on for months, wasting time.
I'm no longer prepared to do this.
I firmly believe that making music should be enjoyable and a fun process, but at the
same time I only want to work with someone who is serious about wanting to be a
singer, someone who means what they say.

I'm teaching myself html and have built a simple web site, in order to be able to promote
both the singer and my music on a global scale. I already have the web space.
It is now up and running and the address is
www.catmancreativewriting.com

There would be a picture of the singer on it with perhaps some general information
about them, perhaps an interview, plus some sample tracks.

As far as I can see the first thing to do would be to get a collection of the best demos
onto a cd to act as a starting point, enabling us to approach record companies.
This would give us something "solid" to progress from.

Obviously, these songs would need to be recorded properly in a studio under the
guidance of "real" musicians, but all songs had to start somewhere as a demo.

A possible way of attracting free media attention would be through a charity song I have
written for the BRPS (British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society), a charity for the blind, which
is aware of my efforts and approves of the project.
The chairwoman of the West Midlands branch tells me she might be able to get some
air play on WM if we could find a decent vocalist.
She is very good at attracting media interest.

I'd like this song to be released into the charts and the proceeds to be split between
the BRPS and a charity helping to fight depression. (Not sure yet which one).

The ultimate aim of all my music is to get it to a point where it can be released into
the charts for our mutual benefit.

Well, I'm sorry this is a long email, but I wanted you to be armed with as much
information as possible to help you decide whether you would like to meet up and
discuss things further.

If any of this sounds of any interest to you then I'd be pleased to hear from you.

Regards

Tom Humphreys
