I have a really old and large agave plant that has a huge flower on the end of a long stalk about 3ft long. Little flowers have formed all up the stem and are growing well. Do you think if I cut off the big one on the top and transplant it it will survive and take the little ones off and pot them the mother plant will keep growing. Also do you have to dry them out like cacti first before planting. There is at least ten growing on the stalk. They are already about a foot across so the stem is really heavy and tied up to my fence. Only ever seen single ones growing so it's a bit weird looking. Must be 50 years old at least and don't want to lose it. Maureen
