Hi Jane. I have planted heaps and heaps of Grevilleas where we are.... -7 to 40deg, same as you and I have had so little luck with them. It is just too severe and I think you will find the same. I haven't tried the grafts because they cost too much to not cope!!!! One I have had a bit of luck with is Canterbury Gold and one other which of course I don't know what it is as I planted so many. My hubby has lots at his office of Robyn Gordons but they get frot bitten when it goes down to 1 which it does rarely there. I know you said the bottlebrushes don't inspire you but I have better luck with them. "Hannah Ray is a good one and some of the river ones. They are not too expensive as easy to grow from seed so they are cheap in tube stock. They seem overall tougher. There is an Alpine Grevillea which grow well in this area but it is in Stringybark Forest and where a frost doesn't happen as often. Because we are "partners in climate" so to speak, I think that you would be wasting your time and money. You can get them in pinks, whites, creams and purples if the red is too over the top for you. You can avoid those seedy ones if that is what you don't like but I just give my seedy ones a prune and off they go again. Pam
