Marguerite, your note is quite a reflection of the times here in Toronto as well, production as been very slow and with the way the markets have been going, it doesn’t look like it will turn around any time soon. However, in saying that, I’ve been lucky enough to FINALLY get a small contract, it’s about 6 weeks. Still, even with this, there is no opportunity to save for future months; it really has become scrapping bits and pieces together. How is one ever to climb Maslow’s Triangle in this day and age, I wonder! It’s amazing how much stress is generated in worrying about the basics- paying rent, bills, heating (I’ve had to keep my apt at about 10C all winter, just to make sure I could pay the bill!).
Although, trying not to be too much of a downer, I’ve also been trying to focus on other things. I just bought a canvas and some paint- thought it might be fun to try my hand at painting while also filling a void in my wall. Now I’m just trying to come up with an idea of what to paint…that’s the hard partJ I’ve also been reading a lot more lately, it reminds me there is life “out there” to be explored.
I guess, it’s the small things that need to be focused on. Hopefully, things will turn around.
And even when I disappear for months at a time (something I really want to get better at not doing) my thoughts, as always, are with you and everyone on the board.
Love and hugs,
a
