I am also researching my ancestory in regards to Nicholson that originates from the Isle of Skye. It was my understanding that their original surname was Mac Nicol, but in doing some research it caught my attention that it may not. My family for many genertions has used the first names of Donald and Harold. My Great-great grandfather either Donald or Harold arrived in NYC in the mid 1800's and was the editor for the NY Sun. The Surname Nicholson is also associated with the name Owen. Owen was the maiden name of one of the Nicholson's wives and incorporated as their middle name for generations. Ergo, Donald Owen and Harold Owen. Anyone who has any further information on this would be welcomed.
