Took me a while to figure it all out. I still only know basics. Guess we can all learn together. I'll copy a couple examples off of his profile and explain them. (I used to teach. Sorry if this is more help than you wanted.) Example then space then explanation.
"I see nothing to be gained by any explanation, There are no words that need to be said" yes-- I feel should too many tweets!

Since this one has nothing at the beginning, he wrote it.

This one means he was answering something melt72 said to him.

RT means retweet. thisisAmy101 sent this to him. He liked it or wanted people to see it, so he added RT to the beginning and sent it out. The RT and leaving her username gives her credit for saying it originally. He retweeted a bunch of quotes one day.
I think if he follows someone their tweets to him may show up on his page, but I'm not sure about that one.
If you'd like to add me there, I'm @badkittybelange. I don't really say much. If we follow each other we can DM (direct message) in case you have another question. Or here is fine if Molly doesn't mind.

: Novice dummy here, too. Reading JCs tweets, but confused. If I'm following him, am I only seeing what he's tweeting or tweets he's getting back and then answering? What does RT mean at the beginning of some tweets? Renee
