Hello Jane and everyone.
Well Ive been that flat I havent had time to post for a few days . The old Merino ewe finaly lambed and 9:30 Wensday morn. I checked before I went to work at 6 but nothing , Viv checked a couple times till she lambed.Viv found her down and a pair of twins beside her , Thought mum was dead but she was still just alive . Viv had to clear out the muck and stuff out of there mouths so they could breath , they were covered in muck so only just born. When I got home I cleaned up the muck still around her stood her up and shes been strugling through ever since . After reading a book I do believe that she was suffering from what they called lamb sickness but she has pulled through how I dont know , but she wont be seeing the ram and in a hurry . One boy and a girl very weak but with the standard loveing caree given are doing well .
On thursday The old merinos daughter of three years ago also lambed , and on Friday night a mate turned up with a lamb after it was found with its dead mum , apears to be about 4 days old so she may have lasted for a bit before dieing. Count is Three on the bottle and one in the paddock with I'm hopeing another 5 to come from the paddock.
Then shorn in Sept and last years three weathers go in for the chop ( pardon the pun).at 14 mths old .
Went to the Bendigo auction on Sat, left here at 4 am to get in there at 7am hopeing to get the birds up close to the front . I did well , I took down about thirty roosters averaged about $8. Paid for a beer and fuel on the way home , and I didnt buy a thing ( Viv stayed at home looking after the lambs) was easy .
Brett.
