Hey Brett, sorry for the lengthy delay in my reply, trying to find 5 minutes to myself at the moment is near impossible.
How's the lambies? They be growing by now I'd imagine. I bet Viv is beside herself with happiness at the moment with all those babies. The yanks on the sheep forum had a discussion going a little while back something about lambing sickness. They didn't call it that, but I think that's what they were talking about. Something to do with the ewe getting sick during and after the birth. I can't remember what they treat it with, but I think Penicillin was mentioned and possibly calcium (I'm guessing). I can probably find the discussion if you're interested.
I was kinda hoping I might've got a phone call by now about another baby, but not yet
. Maybe I should remind people because I know everyone is lambing now and they may well have forgotten my request. I feel my boy is getting lonely at times, so I;d like to get him a friend. It's OK when we're home, but I worry he gets lonely if we're both at work. According to the neighbours he doesn't beg at the back door to come in when we're not home, so he must understand that when the car goes out, no-one is inside, so no point bashing on the door. I've constantly got this "they're flock animals" going through my head and it's driving me nuts. Chances are he doesn't miss having other sheep around as he's not really had other sheep before, but I know animals have instincts (unlike us humans who have to be taught everything), so I'm hoping I'm not humanising him when I think that he's lonely.
Have you still got the 2 sheep that would be 10 months old now? Have I already asked that before (brain has gone on holidays to outer space I think)? Norman will be 10 months on the 28th. Scary how quickly time has gone! I can't imagine life without him now. What did I do with my time beforehand? What was it like to like in an organised environment? What was it like not to have "Norman stop eating " as part of every day language? I'd gladly do it all again! No wonder I'm crazy!
Is 14 months the usual age to go bye byes? I would've thought younger, but I don't know anything about that side of having sheep. Wish I had the guts to raise food for the table, but I;m such a sook these days. 20 years ago I wouldn't have had a problem, I;d have done the whole process myself, but these days, forget it. I've got soft in my old age
. How do you think Viv will go when you send them off, or are these ones without names?
Did the 5 lambs from the paddock arrive yet?
