Oh Rhayden, I'm really so very sorry. I'm glad now at least she is finally in a nursing home where she can be cared for and monitored, and that you had that time with her before she got too sick.
Yeah not pooping for more than a couple of days is bad, it could be a bowel obstruction or it could be caused by the strokes.
They have probably got her on warfarin or something similar (it goes into rat poison - horrible thought really) it thins the blood and prevents clots, but yes, if she bumps herself or cuts herself it can bleed a lot, sometimes fatally.
As far as recovering, it's not likely she will regain much speech or movement, but with lots of physio other parts of the brain can be taught to take over those functions but it's a long hard road. Is she paralysed on just one side?
It's a terrible bloody existence. She could last for another ten years like this, or pop off any day. My grandmother went the same way but thankfully she had a smallish stroke then a biggie the next day, so it was fast, a matter of days.
I don't know what else to say. Euthanasia is a very touchy subject and one close to my heart, having seen so many people suffer unnecessarily and being kept alive for God knows what reason, usually families not wanting to let go.
Often the complications arising from a stroke is what finishes them off, respiratory arrest or an infection.
Sometimes I think we'd all be better off just letting nature take its course and be done with it. If doctors can't make you better what is the point? It only prolongs the heartache and pain.
I shouldn't really say this but perhaps there is a sympathetic nurse who will give her a little extra morhpine and send her off to sleep.
