I was born 09/11/1966. Birth name is Joann Agnes Bibeau. I was born at St. Vincents, placed through the NY Foundling Hospital. I have been searching since I was 15. Before computers, I would go to the library and pull EVERY phone book they had, and hand write letters to every person with the same last name. One time, i wrote over 350 letters. No good leads. I am registered with a couple of sights and with the ISR. I was contacted last year by someone who does this for a living telling me she was doing a special for dateline, and wanted to know if I would be a part of it. She felt my story was very interesting. Why, she would never quite say. Other than I was one of the babies that Sister Mary DeSales worked with, she wouldnt give any other information. Well needless to say, that after getting my hopes up,( and i know that is my fault, i should know better), this women left me hanging on this whole thing for over a year. No reply to e-mails or phone calls. Till finally when i asked her how much she charges, i heard back from her right away!!! Very disappointing!!! I have been told by another person that the fact that my amended birth certificate is not dated unitl almost 4 years after I was adopted, could mean that there were some issues with someone relinguishing their rights to me. I dont know if this is true or not. I just need help at this point. I dont know where else to turn, and being that I am still paying for last winters heating bills, I dont have money to spend to have someone do this for me. Can it be that if someone doesnt want to be found they cant?
Any help someone can give would be so wonderful!!!!!!
