An overview of events is what will benefit us the most now. Changes are occurring so quickly, we cannot stay focused on the details. Instead, we are encouraged to gather the essence of the intended learning, to let go of attachment to form as needed, and then to keep flowing with the river. This week marks the final complete week of Pluto's journey through Sagittarius, as well as the last whole week of Uranus' retrograde phase. These two planets are the "movers and shakers" of our solar system, with their heightened influence most notable for corresponding with increased change. Both planets are focused and very intentional now: Uranus is at a standstill in preparation for going direct, and so his energies are strengthened. And Pluto, as he prepares to leave Sagittarius, is working to complete his contract for transforming belief systems that are not built on Truth. Pluto has been in Sagittarius since 1995; his previous journey through the sign was from 1748 to 1762. The wars of the mid-1700s were based in the struggle to gain freedom of speech and religion, as well as the right to create a future unfettered by the unfair rules of the past. During our current experience of Pluto in Sagittarius, we've gone through modern-day versions of those philosophical battles. Organized religions have been tested and in many cases renovated. An already-existing conflict was exacerbated by an act of religious zeal, with the ensuing war initially supported by the masses out of a common belief in "right and wrong." On the positive side, the idea of the law of attraction, as elaborated by Wayne Dyer and Abraham, as well as the "What the Bleep" and "The Secret" movies, has gained strong footholds in mainstream thinking. Very significantly, we seem to be moving beyond the need to psychoanalyze through delving into a negative experience in the past, and are learning instead to focus on the energy of what we want to create in the here and now. Oprah's example of a "gratitude book" is a perfect example of this shift. As Pluto sweeps the last dust bunnies out of the corners and prepares to leave the building, we likewise can utilize the next 10 days to do our own final purging of beliefs and thought patterns that have restricted rather than supported us. As Uranus completes his retrograde phase in Pisces, he is revisiting territory originally traversed in mid-March 2008. We are all working with these enhanced energies of change, but if your chart shows planets or points at 18 degrees of a mutable sign (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces), you are likely feeling Uranus' energies even more intensely. And, because the Uranus-Saturn opposition was just two weeks ago, we are all still dealing with that polarity -- the desire for change and the fear of that change, as well as the imperative that whatever change occurs must be grounded in reality and built on strong foundations. The collapse of Wall Street, the housing market, and oil prices all reflect how balloons that inflate beyond their capacity must eventually burst. It's always hard to return to work after a weekend of being in our own flow of time and space, but with the Neptune-Mercury square on Monday, we may be even less focused than usual. Try not to expect too much of yourself or others in the way of concrete thinking or planning, but do make yourself available as much as possible to the intuitive/creative side of your brain. The aspect is exact mid-afternoon Pacific Time, so that afternoon nap is a great idea -- you may even find your dreams particularly creative, symbolic or inspired. Also on Monday, Venus interacts in subtle ways with both Neptune and Uranus, challenging us to use our artistic senses in new ways. All in all, it sounds like Monday's a great day to sit with a coloring book and crayons for a few hours... Saturn steps into the spotlight in the latter half of the week. The Saturn-Mars quintile on Wednesday is another subtle exchange, but can be used to make concrete progress if we're willing to think creatively and not be restrained by the rules. In other words, it's time to color outside the lines -- and be proud of what we've done. The Saturn-Jupiter trine on Friday is the last of their five such alignments since March 2007. The two planets have been dancing in and out of aspect due to their respective retrograde periods over the past 20 months. This is a "good news" kind of aspect, one that combines hope and reason and helps them work together. We can use this energy to help us both envision the future we want, while being realistic about the steps it will take for us to get there. Also building on the theme of hope are the Sun and Mercury, as they enter Sagittarius on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The month of Sagittarius is perfectly suited for the weeks in which most of us prepare for one holiday or another, since the sign is known for its spirit of adventure, generosity and openmindedness, as well as its desire to understand patterns and symbols. Sagittarius is not known for its attention to detail, however, and can be so dedicated to "truth" that tact is a forgotten tool. It is quite an interesting mix of energies now -- to say the least. The more we can tap into the optimism of the Saturn-Jupiter trine and highlighted Sagittarius themes, the more groundwork we can lay for positive outcomes in the weeks ahead. Radio Note: I will be the guest on The Peaceful Planet, Marcia MacMahon's Internet Talk Radio program, this Saturday, November 22, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. We will be discussing "Astrology and the Ascension Process," so it should be interesting! To listen, visit www.bbsradio.com and click on BBS Station 1. For time zones other than Pacific Time, please go to the site and click on "Radio Schedule" to find out when the show will air in your area.
