Yes it does! My own Strider Club originally had the small rig and that is the one I used when sailing to the USSR. As I have written elsewhere the original small rig was only used because the builders wanted to sell a boat at the lowest possible price. However we knew that the boat would be very undercanvassed in light winds. In fact it has less sailarea than a Hobie 16!
Later we fitted a bigger rig to my Club and as expected the overall performance increased significantly. You can see photos of my old boat with the new rig on the Preowned Boat page
