Getting totally stonewalled trying to find my mum's family anywhere. She was Jeanne (Jean) Ida M'Namara (sometimes McN) and born near Randwick/Coogee in 1914. Older brother Francis and older sister Gladys (later Rowlands). Father either Francis Joseph or Joseph Francis - only discovered to be Roman Catholic on his deathbed - had run a private Anglican prep school for boys in Randwick somewhere. Jeanne attended St. Gabriel's Waverly, Gladys attended St. Catherine's, and Francis went to Shore (later left for South Australia after being ostracized from family).
I am of the understanding that grandpa was born in Ireland and left under some sort of cloud (imagine that) but have NO idea where to start looking.
Applied to BDMs in NSW for my mother's birth certificate and got sent one belonging to someone else.
