I am looking for links to my 3 X gt grandfather Charles McNamara (various spelling of surname) born 1786 Northam Devon, served as a merchant seaman from 1805 then as a coastguard from about 1815. Was on station in north Devon, Ireland (Wexford and Galway) Then Sunderland where he was pensioned off in 1847 dying of typhus in the same year. His eldest son also Charles was born in Kilcolgan in 1826, there were two other brothers that I can trace, Thomas born Ryhope Co Durham who went to Portsmouth and Joseph born Sunderland who possibly went to London, Charles junior ended up in Swansea. A name that has cropped up is Septimus.
