Instructions on how to post a photo. First, you need to load your photos onto a website. The 2 most common sites people use are PhotoBucket and Aussie Chicks.
Once you've registered and uploaded your photos, for Aussie Chicks click on the photo you want to post so it's the only photo that appears on the page. Right click ON the photo and click on 'properties'. When the box pops up, copy the entire URL address that is there. An easy way is, right click ON the address and click select all. Then right click again and click copy. Close that properties box and come back here and open a new message. You can now either put that address in the 'optional image URL' box (right click in the box and click on paste) or you can click on the 'EBCode legend' at the bottom of the page to show you the code to put more than one picture per message.
If you're using Photo Bucket, find the picture you want to post. Under the photos are 3 boxes with addresses in them. Copy the address in the bottom box (IMG) and come back here and open a new (or existing) message and copy that address into the main window where you type your message. This 'code' is the same one you'd find in the EBCode legend. To add more than one photo, repeat the above steps. Only put one address per line.
Remember, if you are buying or selling stock, add your location and email address to your message so people know where you are!

Jane,
I'd be inclined to suggest that she leave them in with the others. The hen will be the best judge of what is right for her chicks. If she takes to sitting in a corner all the time with the chicks under her then it's a good bet that she's worried about the others, otherwise, if she's scratching around normally and the chicks are running around the way they should then she probably thinks everything is ok.
If any of the chicks show signs of being attacked then it would of course be time to move them out. I'm guessing that they are in a chicken wire enclosed run? Don't forget that chicken wire is not chick wire and chicks can run backwards and forwards through it - this may put them within range of the cat. The only difficult thing about having a hen raise chicks in with everyone else is getting a bit of extra high protien feed to them without all the hens rushing over and gobbling it up. Of course it is summer in the US at the moment so there should be plenty of bugs and worms available for the hen to help the chicks to find (if they free range) otherwise a creep feed area (maybe a corner fenced off with chicken wire that can be accessed by the chicks but not the hens) with a little dish of scrambled egg or porridge or grower crumbles may be the way to go.
If the rooster goes after the cat then he's probably protective rather than aggressive and should not be a worry at all.
Hope this helps.
Tanya
