Hi, does anyone know of a way to test beams to comfirm that they have been built corectly?
I am just finishing the beams for my Romany ,they look great and I am very pleased with them , would it be possible to place the beam on blocks(one at each end),then place a weight in the middle and measure the deflection?
My reason for wanting to test my beams in not because I think there is anything wronge with them but to comfirm that I have built them correctly.I have been involved with amature built catamarans for 20 years now and am still surprised at the number of boats built that are not sailed long distance by the builder.Anything that can increase the confidence of the amature builder in his work(remember that most of us have little back ground in boat building)must be a good thing and increase the number of successful progects that hit the water and sail off over the horizon.
