Jim, FWIW sufboards made of foam use wood and fiberglass stringers to stiffen things up. I would worry about the torque on the foam and how it handles the hardware (shaft) that moves it. I will stick to plywood and maybe try some of that new hybrid carbon kevlar sheathing. Caribeclipse.
