Hello all,
I have bad news from yesterday. I wanted to post this then but I haven't had the heart to talk about it until now. Talk about flustration that I have, it is high for me. We lost our new baby. This is why I NEED a WEBCAM, I tell my husband, then my friends I have made here would have called us when they saw trouble. Well I think he might see my point now. He is at work, I am at nursing school clinicals and no one is home to care for the mare. She wasn't even acting like all I have been seeing here. Of course, that is my bad luck dark cloud hovering over me. The man that owns her, just so happened to stop by and check on her (he is our assistant police chief here locally) and noticed her bag protruding. Well he calls my husband and he flies home. By the time he gets here and checks for positioning, the baby is breech. She was huge. He feels and there are three feet coming all at once. What just gets me is, I left at 5:30am and he left at 6:15am and she was eating hay and feed. But at 11:15am she is struggling to have her colt. With all Kevin's might, he finally retrieves the baby( a beautiful buckskin filly with black stockings) but she was already gone. I think and the vet agrees, that the placenta turned loose from the uterus wall too early. Well now we are looking at another situation. Gabby the mare, has two huge tears in her uterus. So far so good. We are keeping her out of pain and from straining to keep from having her intestines from protruding through her vaginal opening. Please add her to your prayers that she will heal up nicely. We are not planning on breeding her again. This time, she was a surprise that she was even bred before we got her last year. She is an awesome babysitter for our kids. Really broke mare and lovable. Thanks for listening. And add my other bred mare to your prayers please. She is the one that has had 3 prior losses and our new vet is awesome and since we know when she was bred, he is willing to induce. So we will be watching those signs. Please pray that God will give me them wisdom to know the correct signs for favorable induction. I really want a new baby.
(Could I borrow one for a bit-- LOL!)
