: We (N'Him) have heard this back and forth argument for years now. I've learned several things from it and I won't go into all of them now, but the most important thing I think I've learned is that everything needs to be considered in prospective. What I look at and think is modest may be different than what someone else looks at and thinks is modest or not modest. When this came up before on our message board and N'Him was criticized for our attire, we each polled men about it. Men know what men are attracted to. Men know what causes lust and what doesn't. So we polled men of different ages and backgrounds, but those we knew would be honest. We made future decisions for our attire based on the responses we received. We feel confident now in what we wear and we feel at peace that we are bringing glory to God and not ourselves.
: I would encourage you to do the same, as well as ensuring that you are lining up with the instruction and preferences of your pastor. All of our opinions are one thing, but when it comes to an issue of lust or physical attraction... ask the one who would be lusting and physically attracted. Of course, (for those of you who think my answer is not spiritual enough) cover all of this and all of your decisions with prayer and seek God's face on each and every outfit you put together. He will surely direct your path.
