Hi Dee,
I must agree with Sonji on this matter. Scripture unequivocally states that God is the One who sets all authority in place, both civil and ecclesiatic.
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." (Rom 13:1,2 NIV, emphasis added.)
From your e-mail it sounds like you were discouraged because the leader did not support the change to a "Mime" style of ministry. My recommendation is to wait. If your leader is saying "no" there must be a reason for it. You also indicated that "we have decided to step out". Does that mean that some of you have decided to leave the current ministry and branch off on your own? Please remember that the Pastor gives the vision to his designated leader. The leader gives the vision to the ministry team. The leader is held accountable for following through. It is so important to make sure that the ministries vision lines up with the Pastor's. If what you are trying to do is start a "community praise dance ministry" outside of your church, I would still say you should seek your Pastor's approval before taking on the venture. With all things make sure you are hearing the voice of the Lord before you make a move. Remember God is not the author of confusion and He hates the soarer of discord. Pray and make sure that your decision to move will not cause either. I am praying that the Lord leads you in the right direction.
