James Sullivan, Leading Stoker died 10/9/1941.age 22 years. One of 14 men killed in explosion on board after refit in Iceland.
The family in Ireland had been told he died on the "Hood" but we found this not to be true. I found him on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
I have a photograph of him with another sailor who also appears in a group photo taken by Medway Studio, Chatham and Gillingham of crew and officers.
I will send copies to this archive.
Can anyone tell me what happened.? Only info I have found is on the BBC website "miracle at Charing Cross" which implies sabotage by German Sympathiser.
My husband is the only surviving member of this family and was named after his late uncle.
