EVOLUTION was the name used between 1942 and 1943 for an accounting section within Excellent; it administered those men on naval parties and was renamed ODYSSEY in November 1943.
There were lots of Naval Parties (NP, which were small groups of men assembled for a specific task, and given a number, for example NP.1713 was the group which ran the recaptured harbour of Cherbourg in 1944.
