: My Father Charles Drew was a surgeon on board the Egret. He never talked about his experiences. So I have had to learn things by default. He was a survivor and from what I gather rescued a number of people from below decks.......he was picked up by the Athabascen>>> I gather a canadian ship and within a few hours was operating on some of their wounded. I would love to be in contact with any who knew him......his wife Doreen is still alive and very keen to meet people from that era. She was known as Doreen Pittaway before she married Charles Drew .
