: Hi all, Im trying to trace my fathers naval career.I
am really struggling.I have applied for his naval
records from the mod but that came back no trace.I have
three photographs of my late father from his naval
days.one a xmas card posted in Rangoon dec 1944.a
photograph of him standing on a escort carrier with a
sea fire in the background. From the records of ship
movements at the time the only carrier that fits the
bill is HMS ATHELING.Can anybody help with old crew
photographs etc etc.

: any pointers greatly received

: Clive

Hi Clive can I please enquire why you discount HMS's
BATTLER, FENCER, SHAH and STRIKER all of which were
operating or ferrying in the Indian Ocean during late
1944 and early 1945. Are your dates correct as Rangoon
was not liberated from the Japanese until 3 May 1945?

Regards

stontamar
