Hi, could anyone help and tell me what the initials mean on my fathers service record? In the rank and discharge column beside an entry for "Badger", are the initials "Ord. Smn" with "LDD" written just above it. I presume "ord smn" is ordinary seaman, but what does LDD mean?
Further down beside an entry for "Ganges", are the initials "O/S (GS)", any ideas? The next entry is "A/AB", next to "Baldur" I presume "AB" is able seaman, but what about "A/AB"?
The second to last entry is "AB" beside an entry for "Sainfoin", and the last entry says "Released in Class A" next to an entry for "pembroke"
Below all the entries there is an entry accross all columns that reads "A/AB 15.10.43 s/g (i think) Baldur". Below that it says "AB 20 march 45".
Lastly, there are a set of columns that say 'charecter efficiency date'. In the charecter column it has NA or NH, cant see which, nothing in the efficiency column and 31-12-41 in the date column. Any ideas?
I know Badger, Baldur, Ganges and Pembroke are shore bases, and Sainfoin was a troop carrier, but its all the initials and abreviations I am trying to understand. Any help would be fantastic and thanks for looking.
