Sphincterotomy

I have had ARP (acute relapsing pancreatitis) for a very long time and no cause ever found. I had an ERCP with sphincterotomy about 11yrs ago --it did not seem to help at all ! The last 3 yrs I have been getting more flare-ups and having complications --so I have been told that I need another ERCP & sphincterotomy. I am seeing the specialist next week for a consult. I am not convinced this is the way to go ---the doctors think that either the first procedure was not done properly or scar tissue has formed at the sphincter of Oddi and that is causing my flare-ups. I am lucky , in that I am not chronic --I feel normal and have no pain in between my episodes ! I also, am certain that I will end up with post ERCP pancreatitis when and If I go through with this---so does anyone have any advice or suggestions for me ? It will ultimately be my decision in the end --but I know that many of you have a lot of experience & knowledge about this --so I would appreciate any help that you can offer --thanks Linda
