The movie is 'Pierrot le fou' (1965) by Jean Luc Goddard and the girl is Anna Karina who is also the girl with the gun on the cover of the first Yummy Fur 7" '...Walt Disney sung by Uri Gagarin...'.
I'm glad to clear up my own question, and hope that it has interest beyond my neurosis.
