After some careful deliberation and a couple of wet weekends curled up on the sofa with a guide book, I'm thinking of either the Barre des Ecrins, or Bernina / Bregalia, as these offer both mountaineering and rock climbing options. I'm tending towards Barre des Ecrins, but this may be a little light on quality dead easy mountaineering routes. If any of those interested wish to borrow guide books I have them both, also a DVD of essential alpine skills if anyone wants to know what they may be letting themselves in for.
