I emailed the girl concerned, this is the reply I received: Dear all,

I am writing in response to your emails regarding access for climbing at Auchinstarry in North Lanarkshire.
I have spoken to the Open Spaces & Cemeteries Manager who has informed me that as a result of the latest annual monitoring report carried out at the quarry site some immediate recommendations have been carried out. One of these recommendations being that the left hand side of the promontory beneath the drystane dyke is fenced off, remaining there until necessary remedial works have taken place.

I am in contact with the relevant person within the Council and I will be meeting with him to put across the concerns that have been expressed in relation to climbing when any decisions are going to be made about the future of access at the quarry. I will keep in contact with each of you with regard to this issue.

Thank you all for the concerns you have shown over maintaining access for climbing at the quarry, these will be considered in relation to the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 and all other relevant legislation when making any decisions for the future management of the quarry.

Kind regards
Hayley Oakes
