I submit that by definition, the choice to observe the magic of the season at the precise moment that the Sun is at 15 degrees of Taurus is considerably more "rigid" than exploring the wonders of the Gaian spring-to-summer (in the N. Hemisphere) energies which can be found throughout the month. By the time one attempts to observe it so specifically, Sun is at 15 degrees and several seconds of Taurus, given the transit of the Sun at something less than 1 degree every 24 hours.
"Oh, so that's 14 minutes 30 seconds to 15 minutes 29 seconds of Taurus. Then that makes ALL the difference."
"Hmm, let's see. We MUST face East for this portion, turn just so, then face South for 4.3 seconds exactly . . ." etc., etc. ad nauseum.
Rites are an mnemonic means to place one in a certain attitude at a particular time, typically called out by someone else outside of oneself to whom one has designated/assigned a portion of one's sovereign power and being. I have had my fill to my topknot of others' dictates, so rankle considerably when someone I know not at all attempts to further dictate something to me which may be little beyond a form of mimickry of what they have read or been told. If it is from experience, then 'twere better expressed as, "In my experience . . ."

By conducting such rigid observations, it is a wonder to me that there is ANY magic remaining in it, whatsoever. Farbeit from me to deny anyone their well-defined strictures, for if that is what they choose to believe, then by the God/dess that will most assuredly be the limit of it. For them.
Insofar as those folk and their ilk are content to follow someone else's dictates, with the giving away of power to that "expert," whether they be pope, high priestess, lead shaman or chief joker (I care not), then my perspective is to allow them to be so lead. As long as they do not attempt to get in my way when I do and be what I "do and be" in response to what a multitude of energy signatures are politely (mostly) advising. If that is too enigmatic for anyone, so be it.
