Doris Kathleen Stowell Owen, born on July 6, 1922 to Jewell Dell Brown and Otsie Clark Stowell in ElDorado, Kansas. Kathleen graduated high school in Russell, KS, attended Colorado Women’s College and graduated from Kansas State College. Her Dietetic internship was spent at the Beth Israel Hospital in Patterson, NJ. She left the Dietetic field to host the landmark premiere show “Lookin’ at Cookin’ with Kay Atha” on KOTV, Tulsa, OK. In 1954 she returned to the Dietetic field working at several hospitals throughout the State of Oklahoma. She was past president of the Oklahoma American Dietetic Association and served on numerous boards and committees. An active genealogy researcher, she also served on the Henryetta Historical board.
Kathleen married Robert R. Owen on February 23, 1977. She is survived by her daughter, Terry K. Brown, Dayton, Texas; two grandchildren - Melissa Mims and spouse Alejandro Montiel, Austin, Texas; Patrick Brown and wife, Diana, McKinney, Texas,; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Short, Rene’ Montiel, Isabelle Brown, and Addison Brown; one brother, Otsie Clark, Jr., Montrose, CO; two nephews and two nieces.
A Memorial Service will be at the First Presbyterian Church, Henryetta, Ok, Monday, August10, 2009 at 10:00AM, with gravesite services following. Services are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home. The family will welcome family and friends at the church following the gravesite memorial.
