Of course right now I'm listening to this excellent Pippin music. (Which by the way unfortunately this homework assignment is taking MUCH longer than expected, so I won't be able to post the review today... In fact, I'll probably be slowly working on it this week...)
I was still revisiting some of my favorite musical soundtrack albums that I used to listen to a lot as a kid (and/or watch in movies). Partly I'd imagine out of nostalgic reasons, but they are genuinely great works. Some ones that I hadn't been able to put down are My Fair Lady and (honest to god) The Sound of Music, which doesn't suck even though I'm supposed to be too cynical for it as a 20-something male.
Otherwise, I've been listening to a lot of melodic hipster type music from the '80s, '90s and '00s (and sort of passively making mixes out of them). Some of the favorites that I remember have been Dr. Dog, The Lilac Time, Lush, and Helena (really, really catchy French language music). I also ran across an interesting guy called Kevin Coyne... He started in the '70s, released a buttload of albums, and I haven't heard of him. ...He's hit or miss, but some of his hits are fantastic.
