There were several imigrant groups that settled in the Platte area including: Scandinavians, Germans, Eastern Europeans, and of course the Dutch. I believe that most of them were from eastern Friesland and the Reest Valley area. They founded several Reformed and Christian Reformed churches as well as Christian schools. : One of my hobby is collecting information over the emigration from people of my country the Netherlands to the USA. In a book I have in my collection, Platte is named as a city who is settled by Dutch emigrants. I looked on the offical site of Platte SD, but in the part about the history of the city it is only mentioned that the area is settled in 1880. Is it right that Platte is settled by Dutchmen or is this not through.
