Last week I had the chance to talk with Dennis. I had a few questions I wanted answered and decided to post the results as I know others have wanted to know what is going on. I guess I sort of dragged my feet as I am seeing some of these things showing up already. However, I am still posting the information for those who may not yet know. So here goes….
FCV Tire Size: Seems back in ’05 when the FRR models were being developed, Ford went to a smaller sized wheel/tire on the FCV and FRR scaled them accordingly. Now, Ford has increased the wheel/tire size and FRR is retooling to replicate this. He says it makes a “positive difference” and they will be phased in once the new mold is completed.
Blank Models: Dennis told me that based on numerous suggestions; FRR will try offering the FCV, Charger, and the Magnum as unassembled “kits” with unpainted bodies for those who wish to start from scratch. The chassis and interior will be pre-painted… and, the black trim around the glass will also be pre-painted. These “kits” will also come with two sets of wheels and the accessory parts as well. Dennis also noted the Chargers will be available in more colors to be added to the currently available White and Black & White paint schemes.
Parts: Since he brought up the issue of parts, I asked him what FRR might be doing to respond to the issue of parts being asked for. He admitted that he has been overwhelmed with requests, so to help with this, he has increased his order for them and hopes they will become available in late June or early July. To simplify things, he is thinking of making these available in small bags of each, antennas, spotlights, roof lights, etc… This way, the modeler can order just what he needs/wants.
More on parts: Dennis mentioned that he’s been making a list of what people have been asking for. So far, it looks to be in excess of 4,000 pieces of what is currently available. He said he would photograph and list for sale these parts in a separate area of the FFR Website. So it looks like someone is finally going to provide those of us who like to customize with the parts we’ve been asking for!!
In addition, he said he that he has had numerous requests for “bubble gum” lights. He has some of the “older White Rose molds” and will be able to make these as well. These will be the Michigan State Police style roof light. These too will be clear so the modeler can color as desired.
Impala & Tahoe: I almost forgot, one of the main reasons I contacted him was to clarify the info I have seen going around on some of the boards. Dennis has confirmed that FRR will be doing the current Impala and Tahoe. He said that he was in Detroit a few weeks ago and finalized the GM License Agreement.
One last thing, on a long list of things…. My notes are so scribbled that I almost missed this. It seems Florida has contacted Dennis with information and as a result, FRR will be adding the Florida HP Charger to the growing list of the “State Series” Chargers. Whew, that about does it !!!
Hope this helps some of you out there...
