Welcome to the 132nd edition of Lunar Rhythms, where I hope to inspire a greater appreciation for the Moon’s influence and offer some practical ways to coordinate our efforts with prevailing lunar energy. This week the Moon travels through Pisces, Aries, and Taurus; and the New Moon and waxing Crescent Moon phases. My primary intent in communicating this information is to encourage us all to entertain possibilities.
I see that Yvonne's Dad crossed over last year...It has
been eight years as of 2/11/1008 since my Dad crossed over.
I still miss his physical presence/presents as she stated.
In honor of all those who love & miss their fathers here is
a poem I wrote right after my Dad's passing...
Namaste,
V~M
^^*^^
To Dad
A poem about the loss of our Dad
and for anyone that has lost their father...
My father died.
My Dad died.
My Dad is dead.
I am so-o-o sad...
I have heard these words when
it comes to others,
I've shared this pain with friends
and family through the years.
Now it's my turn,
and that of my sister and brothers
and my husband.
The pain is unbearable.
The pain is terrible.
The pain is unsharable
but the most sharable of all,
one of the common, binding threads
of all humanity
The loss of your Dad. . .
Oh God give me and us and all
strength and grace and love.
I see you Dad up above
and I feel your deep and
abiding love. . .

MOON IN PISCES
The Moon glides into Pisces on March 6 at 3:54am MST. Pisces’ has to do with surrender, faith, and service; blending spiritual harmony with the thematic principle of merging. Its challenge is to find the form with which to express ourselves. As the most sensitive of the signs, Pisces’ thin boundaries teach us to exercise discrimination around what we take into our systems and who we trust not to poison us.
The Pisces Moon motivates us to intuit how our happiness hinges directly upon our ability to follow our dreams, and, how our emotional sensitivity informs us of where we really feel at home (or don’t). We can extend Pisces’ wisdom of emotion when we imagine how we would direct the sparkling light of unconditional love as a gift to someone else. And, what parts of our life would benefit from regular exposure to light and unconditional love.
Home & Garden – We can harmonize our efforts with the Pisces Moon to do laundry and clean the kitchen. Its fertile moist nature is very fruitful and promotes root growth, therefore, planting and transplanting low growing plants with pastel coloured flowers is preferred now.
Mind, Body & Health – The Pisces Moon’s influence assists us to release our need for control; surrender to the process; and, flow with Spirit. A reflexology session, bathing, sweating, drinking lots of water, and avoiding pollutants can help us to purify our body of toxins and be quiet and gentle with ourselves and support our wellness. Expressing our creativity by writing a romantic story; composing a piece of music; painting a watercolour scene will positively impact our wellbeing. And, we further develop wellness if we avoid feeling inadequate, falling in love with the first person we meet, and changing our mind. In addition to immune system sensitivity, we are vulnerable to mental and physical sensitivity and problems with the feet under the Pisces Moon’s influence and it is an excellent time for us to focus our attention on the desire to heal or take action to restore health to these areas.
Business & Financial – We can utilize Pisces Moon energy to draw up financial agreements, repair equipment, and/or stock -take. Artist’s materials; a book about dreams; romantic fiction; shoes and hosiery; tapes or CDs; bedding; and/or, swimwear are likely to catch our fancy on shopping trips. And, we must avoid illogical reasoning; being too easily influenced; and, major purchases.
NEW MOON
The New Moon on March 7th at 10:31am MST brings energy, inspiration, and whipped up emotions, which can be directed to organize and stage gatherings to bring a feeling of community together in a common goal. We may find we have a lot to say and are reminded that we need to exercise care and moderation when we are in a position to influence or sway groups of people. And, we must be cautious of those who use spiritualism for greedy financial gain.
New Moon Visualizations:
I want to take control of the course of my destiny.
I want to develop self-confidence in everything that I undertake.
I want to find a true soul-mate with whom I can share my dreams.
I want to assert myself constructively and turn my visions into reality.
I want to deal with my friends and acquaintances with compassion in my heart.
Home & Garden – If our agenda includes moving house, March7th to 20th is the optimal period this lunar cycle; March 8th to 10th are the best days in this phase. Increasing lunar gravitational forces draw nutrients upward as the Moon waxes (grows) and we can utilize these conditions to sow plants with lots of aboveground growth, fruits, and flowers.
Mind, Body & Health – The New Moon is a perfect time for prayer or meditation – to go within our self and listen for what wants to unfold within us throughout this lunar cycle. And, we can get medical treatment and commence new projects to bolster our health.
Business & Financial – This quarter encourages expressing a new theme where new ideas and new concepts sprout forth. This is an opportune time to draw up contracts, initiate deals, and plan for the future.
MOON IN ARIES
The Moon arrives in Aries on March 8th at 7:24am MST. The Moon in Aries reminds us that to be true to our path, we have to be true to our inner fire. During this time, we may crave directness – to love simply, laugh fight cleanly – but may leap before we think. It is time to take action, claim territory back from weeds and pests; initiate. Under this intense Moon’s influence, we hate to be told what to do by person, place or schedule; we love deeply, but our path calls us to prioritize our own voice and intuitive response. We can celebrate by taking time to appreciate our spark and independence.
Home & Garden – We can utilize Aries Moon energy to tackle DIY projects, to move furniture in preparation for decorating, and to clean out closets. Its dry semi-barren nature is not especially well suited to the waxing phase.
Mind, Body & Health – The Aries Moon is an appropriate time to work with anger and frustration, which when ineffectively expressed; repressed or too frequently released, can become damaging and destructive both to ourselves and our community. This lunar energy facilitates our ability to release and vent anger to avoid liver toxicity that lowers our energy and leaves us feeling tight and constrained. It is a great time to renew and strengthen our vitality; to burn out toxins; and, to strengthen the adrenal system. We can set ourselves a new challenge and begin a new exercise regime to positively impact our wellbeing. And, we impair our wellness when we fail to avoid rashness, driving too fast, and rushing a job. In addition to liver toxicity, we are vulnerable to headaches, migraines, scalds and burns, cuts, and accidents under the Aries Moon’s influence and it is an excellent time for us to focus our attention on the desire to heal or take action to restore health to these areas.
Business & Financial – We can employ Aries Moon energy to start a business; to implement tough measures; to launch new schemes; and, to take advantage of situations. With our energies and enthusiasm at a peak, this can be an excellent time to shop for, a car; sports clothes and gear; DIY materials; sunglasses and spectacles; and, anything red or made of metal. And, we undercut our efforts if we skip over essentials, go in with all guns blazing; and, buy or act on impulse, whereas, we benefit where we are able to temper our aggressiveness and impetuous behavior.
WAXING CRESCENT
Also referred to as the First Crescent, this is the time when things spring back to life. It is the time to develop the seeds of ideas into something tangible. We can also gather information, tap into the increasing energy and prepare to commit whole-heartedly to new projects. This is the phase of growth and outward activity as we mobilize our resources and assert our intent.
Against the bright crescent of this second phase of the Moon’s cycle, we can see the dim outline of the Full Moon – a reminder of the fulfillment that is to come. Look for this Moon in the west in early evening, after the Sun has set.
In this phase, we see the first stirring of light as the Moon begins to pull away from the Sun. The crescent phase is much like a tender shoot struggling to be born, when the seed opens and struggles to push its intent above the ground into the light. We are challenged to become aware of resistance, which is often created by patterns from our past that would impede our progress, to our New Moon seed intention. We are more able to resolve such challenges when we mobilize our resources and assert ourselves in a forward direction. In this silvery crescent we see the first hints of the promise of the Full Moon and the fulfillment to come.
As the light of the Moon increases, this is the time to plant seed for new beginnings. Patterns set during this phase will continue to develop throughout the lunar cycle. In the last day(s) of this phase we draw external stimulus to ourselves, some event outside of self creating a challenge to act on the creative ideas we have been evolving. The external stimulus provides the impetus to move forth from the inspirational quarter to the action quarter. And, this is a time when any fears or hidden doubts within may surface to be embraced. To move forward through the ‘I can’ts’ and the reasons why not to move through our own limitations into a new level of self-empowerment. Not stepping into action results in opportunity lost and no growth – dropping the ball in the lunar cycle.
MOON IN TAURUS
The Moon dances into Taurus on March 10th at 9:15am MST. Taurus practicality and stability develops patient, predictable work cycles and cultivates the habits necessary to harvest abundance from our efforts. It offers us the gift of being able to feel reverence, and, its lesson, for us all, is to learn to let go and become comfortable with change.
The Taurus Moon prods us to look at what rhythms of our day make us happy. And, we can examine the larger canvass of our life to see what parts of ourselves need more earth, more abundance that we can gain through work that mirrors our values, and whom we would endow with abundance if we could pass it along to others.
Home & Garden – The Moon in Taurus tends to focus on building resources for the home. We can use this Venus influenced Moon energy to work on soft furnishings and our home’s interior. And, if we associate our house with security, this is the Moon to purchase a home. The Taurus Moon’s semi-fertile moist nature is very productive. If our climate allows, we can sow pastel coloured flowers and leafy vegetables such as cabbage, lettuce, and spinach during waxing Taurus Moon energy.
Mind, Body & Health – This is a potent time to simplify and clarify the important things in our life; and, to release our impatience and anxiety. During the Taurus Moon we can work on body image and weight issues, our physical and inner beauty, and our self-worth. We can ground ourselves and get in touch with our body as we relax and centre by taking a bath or getting a massage. Cooking, gardening, and going to the theatre are other ways we can utilize Taurus Moon energy to nurture ourselves. And, when we become tight, listless, and quiet as our throat is stressed, singing to build and release energy is an excellent antidote. Healing nervousness; increasing our inner stability and strength; nourishing our throat, thyroid glands, and sexuality; and working on blood sugar imbalances are all easier under this Moon’s influence.
Business/Financial –The Taurus Moon is a well suited to making plans concrete, particularly any that include handling money, wealth, and land. Renting or leasing property, taking on new staff, and starting a savings scheme is also recommended. We are inclined to want value for money under this Moon, which makes anything practical, consumer durables, luxury goods, cosmetics, seating, and beds attractive purchases. We are well served if we avoid missing good opportunities, being obstinate, and gimmicky goods. In addition, we ought to beware people’s inflexibility.
MOON MEANDERINGS
The New Moon in Pisces on March 7th almost replicates my father’s natal placement. He was born on March 6th under a New Moon. This will be the first birthday since he died last summer and it seems strange that so many planets are aligning as they were arranged at his birth – Saturn, which completes its passage through the zodiac every 84 years, Sun and Moon. He was not comfortable with me using stories of my family in my writing – a private person, he didn’t wish anyone to be portrayed poorly – and so when in the last year of his life he declared that he wanted to tell me his stories and that I could use them in my writing, I received validation of what I do in the quiet way he had. He worked the land in a small mixed farming operation for close to fifty years and when it was time for him to retire, he was more concerned that he find a good steward of the land to pass it on to than how much money he’s make in the sale. He bought himself a small boat in his later years – all that Pisces fish energy – and I had the pleasure of many fishing expeditions with him. On one autumn outing, he told me that that was the first year in 64 years that he was not involved in the harvest. It is true he lived a good long life; however, while I cherish the many memories he inhabits, it does not make it easy to adjust to life without him here physically. He does continue to provide ballast for me and I very often feel his presence near. I will spend tomorrow with my mother and I feel this is the best way I can honour him and celebrate his birthday and life.
THE LARGER CELESTIAL STAGE
The Moon dances through her cycle against the cosmic backdrop of ever shifting planetary positions, relationships, and alliances.
Pluto’s New Arena
When Pluto moved into Capricorn on January 25th at 8:38pm MST it began a sixteen year process of transformation on the structures of society, tradition, and authority. Pluto represents our instinct to express power and it burns away the conditioned voice of family and society that limits our vision of what is possible for us and for the world. As Pluto occupies the ultimate sign of worldly achievement it opens the possibility of establishing a New World Order based on in-depth understanding of pragmatic reality united with a deep respect for material power to be illuminated by the Light of Transcendence.
It works in three phases: the first is disruption of the outer world that catalyzes descent into the Underworld based on taking away whatever we think we need for a secure sense of identity; the second is not knowing and through those places where we are resistant to life we are provided the opportunity to become more open; and the third is authentic rebirth as we acquiesce to a larger Will and say, ‘whatever best serves the divine, let it work through me’.
On a personal level, we will experience Pluto’s influence in the area of our life where Capricorn is in our natal chart. We can elevate the process looking at how we can help birth training schools for teachers destined to teach teachers.
