I'll second that.
Thought long and hard as to whether to attend. October
this year it would be 20 years out so am I more a
civvy than soldier? Thankfully not and I'm glad I did
attend. Although, like many, spent the first half hour
circling around weighing people up and trying to
decide if 1) I remembered their name and 2) whether I
liked them!
At one point a guy goes "F***ing hell mate! Not seen
you for years! How's it going?" Struggled for some
time to remember the face and the name and as he went
through the list if postings we had shared, it dawned
on me he must have served at least 15 years before me.
I wandered off before his bubble was burst.
Next time, I'll not be bringing the misses as she was
thoroughly bored.
Not sure how many attended in total, but was amazed to
see how many have been afflicted with the bald head,
goaty beard and beer belly syndrome. Numbers in the
twenties like this for sure!
I though I was the only one with this strange
affliction...
Also very nice to see some tremendous successes, not
least of which is the, as I remember him, the recently
arrived young private Goldsmith now RSM of 3RRF! Had
to leave the Regiment but at least still in the
division.
How long before another amalgamation? RSM Goldsmith is
now on his 3rd cap badge..
It's amazing how some of the Rupert's have mellowed
into well rounded decent chaps too. That nice Mr
Bolton for example.
Has Squint aged at all? C****!
Bill Jones! lol!
Bless him - and all others that served in this fine
unit..
