: I don't know much about Bill Lee other than he was a bit of a wacko. However, in Don Zimmer's autobiography he made it clear he didn't like Bill Lee. I kind of like Don so I'm wondering what the problem was. Anyone know?
Perhaps Zim had an "innie" and Spaceman had an "outie".

: : A secret society (well, not TOO secret) for baseball fans who are, shall we say, a little "left of center" (and I'm not talkin' about the Green Monster).
: : Our name comes from a passage in Bill "Spaceman" Lee's autobiography, The Wrong Stuff (1984). Lee, one of our most exalted gurus, writes:
: : "I hated the D.H. and all the other new wrinkles that had been introduced in an attempt to corrupt the game. I wanted to go back to natural grass, pitchers who hit, Sunday doubleheaders, day games, and the nickel beer,... We have to drive these atrocities out of baseball. It will be doing the entire country a great service. Baseball is the belly button of America. If you straighten out the belly button, the rest of the country will follow suit."
