My name is Bryan Friedrich and I was recently fortunate enough to walk by Jakes as I was visiting Chicago from Indianapolis. As I was walking back to my hotel from The Vic Theatre, I came across a non-descript bar on the corner. Something told my friend and I to stop in. Upon entering, we felt a great atmosphere and inviting barstools allowing us to "belly-up". We were quickly approached by the beautiful Kris, who immediately made us feel at home.
I was happy to see Jakes has a website as I was interested in the history of the bar. The history absolutely blew me away. Especially the part of the past owner living in the back room and sleeping on a cot for 15 years! Absolutely amazing!
I just wanted to say thank you to Jakes for making my great stay in Chicago even more amazing! I also would like to say a special thank you to Kris for creating an atmosphere that made me feel completely comfortable in a new place. Next time I'm in Chicago, you can count on me to stop by Jakes, the best bar in Chicago!
