Yeah I'm sorry I was just about to edit that, it is selenite but not a full rose it's as though people pulled it apart, it's not in a rose design at all. And thanks so much for the not putting it in water tip I wouldn't have had any idea.
It's a very soothing stone this one I have, old energies to it.

PS also my sample the outer lining is clear stone and the sand is actually formed like an hourglass in each of the pieces so it's not totally filled with sand.
