My father has over 200 bottles and we have been checking prices from a price guide. He is now excited that he will get rich. I tried to sell 2 bottles on ebay and no one was interested. Even the Elvis bottle was priced way low. When looking at Ebay I notice that many bids start at $4.99 and still get no bids. I do not see much of a market for selling his entire ollection. He thinks he should get at least $40 per bottle on the average and I'm thinking he may have to settle for $5. per bottle. I do agree with you concerning prices. Surely they get their figures from actual sales of bottles. Now if I could only find those buyers that are paying those prices.

: : it amazes me that people selling decanters almost always want top dollar. does anyone actually pay that much for them? i have several hundred and have never paid more them $5.00 for any one decanter and i do have ones that book value for over $100 like the dark blue duessenberg, i even have one from the civil war era valued at over $700 that i paid $5.00 for at the flea market. i just can not believe some of these prices. i love this site and have the price guide but wow most prices i feel are way to high, just my opinion. if you people are able to sell for that high then more power to you. it just amazes me. i'm not calling anybody anything just giving my opinion, so please no nasty emails.
