Hello,
The number of days before we consider a bord to be inactive has been increased to 120 days. If you are not using your board please let us know so we can remove it from our system

4. Inactivity for a period of more than 120 days. Inactivity is defined as a period when no messages are posted to your message board.

Upgrade Announcement..

Sunday, November 17, 2002

Hello,
Today we completed one of our largest upgrades to date. Over the last 3 or 4 months we have been slowly changing the architecture of our board to allow for the changes we made today.

We now offer the ability to add text, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript to a header and footer area. The header will be included at the top and footer will be included on the bottom of each of your message board pages. This will allow you to fully customize the look of your message board and messages. The headers and footers can be customized by entering the administration area and choosing the “Edit Board Headers and Footers” link.

Some examples of simple things you can do with the headers and footers…..

Include a font tag in the header and a closing font tag in the footer, now you have full control over the font face and font size.

Include an opening bold or italic tag in the header and a closing tag in the footer, now all the text on your board will be bold or italic

Include Style elements; colored scroll bars, modified hyperlink properties…this could be limitless.

Enter a link to an image to include your logo on all the pages
Enclose your board in a table by entering the opening table codes in your header and the closing table codes in your footer.
These are just some of the examples I can think of off hand.

Some additional information:
The main upgrade is finished. We are now running a “fixer” that will upgrade all your old messages over the next 2 days. This will allow all of your old messages to include the header and footer as well as new messages posted to your board. If you find any messages that are not including the header and footers please send us the board URL and the message numbers so we can investigate the problem. There may be some instances of the headers and footers showing up twice in newer messages. If you encounter this please send us the board URL and the message numbers so we can investigate
We are not including the headers or footers on the FAQ page linked from your board.

The option to “Edit Main Forum Page” has been removed from the administration area. The headers and footers replace the option.

If you have a highly customized board you will need for us to move the HTML form your main forum page into your header or footer. Please send us an e-mail with SPECIFIC instructions

New Feature

Saturday, November 9, 2002

Hello,

This morning we release a new feature for the Message Boards. You can now use EBCode within your messages. EBcode is similar in function to the original UBB code some of you may be familiar with. Allowing EBCode is a safe alternative to allowing HTML to be used in messages. To enable EBCode on your board you will need to log into the administration area, choose the "Change Board Configuration" link. On this page you will need to look for this option "Allow EBCode/HTML Tags in Messages" choose EBCode and click update.

At the bottom of your board is a link to a list of the EBCodes we support.

EBCode tags will only work in the body of your messages.

To enable the posting log, log into your administration area, chose Change Board Configuration, then look for the Posting Log option.

The information we include in the log includes..

On Password Protected board you will see the username of the poster.
The only know limitation is on a Password protected board that has opted to be Ad-Free they will not see the posters username in the log. We are working on a fix for this and hope to have it place within a week ---UPDATE ---> This issue has been resolved

Eboards4all News

Thursday, August 22, 2002

Hello,

Today we released a new feature for our Message Board members and completed the first step of a upgrade/migration for our Guest Book members.

Message Board.
Today we released a feature we call "Inst-Smilies" If you click the "Smilie Legend" link at the bottom of almost any page on your board you will see a popup window with all of our current smilies. If you click on a smilie image while composing your message the proper code for that smilie should appear in the test of the message, no more trying to remember the code for your favorite smilies. You only need to open the Insta Smilie window once per visit. As long as you continue to surf our boards using the "parent" browser the Smilie code will be properly inserted into your message.

Guest Books
Last night we migrated all of our Guest Book users to a new version of the Gest Book software. The biggest change is in the way we store the data for the books. In the original version we stored the data in text files. This worked OK until the number of members using our service exploded. Now all the Guest Book data is stored in a safe, secure and FAST MySQL database. Even though we tested the new software we still expect to find a few bugs , let us know if you are having any trouble. We aslo decided the our Guest Book service needed to break away from the Eboards4all.com site so we have regestered a new domain name for our Guest Book service. In the coming weeks we will be completing the new Guest Book site. After the site is complete we will be contacting all of our Guest Book members with further information on the move.

Thanks
Enjoy!!

Downtime

Sunday, July 28, 2002

Hello,

During the day today we experienced a long period of downtime. This was the result of the failure of a major piece of equipment at our web hosting facility. As soon as the problem was diagnosed they started working on obtaining a replacement piece of equipment to get all of their servers back online. Because this type of equipment can't be picked up at the local Comp USA or Best Buy it took a considerable amount of time to obtain the replacement and install it. As the new equipment is installed and tested you may see additional slowdowns or outages. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

More New Features

Monday, April 8, 2002

Hello,

Today we released 2 new features, one you will like and one you may not like.

First, you can now enable "Flood Control" on your board. This will keep people from flooding your board with messages. To enable this feature, log into your administration area, chose change board configuration and look in the top section for "Flood Control"

Second, due to some serious abuse we now have a limit on the length of the subject and name field. We set this limit high enough that we don't thing it will cause problems for our normal users.

New Feature and Bug Fixes

Tuesday, April 2, 2002

Hello,

It is my pleasure to introduce the most often requested feature, a message archive. For the past few months we have been kicking around various ideas for a message archive system for our site. After trying out a few ideas we settled on the one we released tonight. This system allow you to download the archive to your local computer so you can keep a archive of the messages posted to your message board. You could also upload it to your website. As with everything good, we had to add a few new rules to protect ourselves against the abusers. Please re-read the TOS. We also updated the admin FAQ to reflect some of the other changes to the Administration area, please take a look at it when you have a chance.

We also released a number of bug fixes tonight. One of them had to do with the message search not working properly with long subject lines and the other is the single message removal bug.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions Support
